Where KOMA Elektronik used the DE:BUG Musiktechniktage last year to introduce the audience to the art of soldering small circuits to create weird musical structures, this year the quest continues. We teamed up with legendary German producer and artist (and KOMA user) Stefan Betke (aka pole) to give a small introduction in music production with analog instruments! Very refreshing between all the software companies present at Kater Holzig!
KOMA Elektronik proudly presents:
“A short introduction to analog music production”
2nd November 2012 – Start: 3PM
by STEFAN BETKE (a.k.a. pole)
In his workshop Stefan will show how he uses his modular synthesizer, drum machines and of course his KOMA units to create his signature dubby sound and gives tips and tricks so you can expand your sonic horizon beyond the digital world. The workshop will last around 1 – 1,5 hours and includes time in which Stefan will be open for questions from the audience!
ABOUT STEFAN BETKE
For over a decade, electronic musician and producer Stefan Betke a.k.a. pole has been working as a label owner, publisher and mastering engineer, contributing his experience to the development of electronic music. And that adds up to a large pool of experience! The artist label “pole” which he started in 2011 is intended to create a place where pole´s original and unique sound can be developed further, and combined with new production methods and ideas. His latest long-awaited record is the third and final part of the “waldgeschichten” 12inch series which highlights and expands upon pole´s distinctive sound, connecting to the first two parts of the trilogy in a charming way. A fundamental element is the very specific drum sound which is embedded in complex dubby structures, seamlessly unified with the warm and deep bass lines. In spring 2013 pole will release his full length album on CD and Vinyl.
Solder Workshop “Quäkmonster”
2nd November 2012 – Start: 5PM
Showcase of the original Quäkmonster:
As designed by KOMA’s head of production Felix Obeè the participants will build a Quäkmonster in the KOMA Elektronik workshop. It is a minimalistic theremin circuit inside a stuffed animal/monster that makes the little fella squeak and scream when you press its belly/bum/head. Participants need to bring 3 – 4hrs of time, a stuffed animal or something similar, a fitting speaker if they can find one and a soldering iron. Includes PCB, parts, battery, minimalistic small speaker and a few emergency stuffed animals for those who don’t bring anything of their own. €30,- participation fee.
